Research Interests

At the department of meteorology, we are the specialists for the atmospheric boundary layer. This lowest level of the atmosphere is highly influenced by turbulence and the properties of the underlying surface.

I am investigating turbulent exchange processes in the convective boundary layer during daytime, especially over mountainous regions. Here, over slopes and inside valleys, thermal winds have a strong impact on the boundary-layer structure. In my work, the mostly used tool is Large Eddy Simulation (LES). My research goal is the development of a subgrid-scale boundary-layer parameterization for numerical weather prediction considering thermally induced circulations.
