    Projects

  • Hans Ertel Zentrum (HERZ): The Atmospheric Boundary Layer in Numerical Weather Prediction

The Goethe University Frankfurt has established a new research group on boundary-layer meteorology at its Institute for Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences. The group is headed by a professor Juerg Schmidli. The group research addresses the representation of the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) in numerical weather prediction, with a particular focus on the cloudy and complex-terrain boundary layer and with a specific application to the German met office (Deutscher Wetterdienst - DWD) model Icosahedral Non hydrostatic (ICON).
