They were taken during the Microbial Diversity Course at the Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole, MA, USA, during the Summer 1997.

These pages would not have been possible without the enthusiasm of students and staff of the course, the great help of the Zeiss Company, providing us with an excellent microscope and camera, and the Universal Imaging Corporation, helping us with a very powerful imaging program, and with the intensive personal help of both companies to teach us how to use all the equipment.
